MISSION STATEMENT
Engage a generation
End sex trafficking.”
What is PROJECT FUTURES?
We are a not for profit organisation run voluntarily by a powerful and passionate network of socially engaged professionals. Our aim is to empower and engage a generation in raising awareness and funding to combat sex trafficking globally.
What is sex trafficking?
Sex trafficking is the movement by force or coercion of men, women and children into commercial prostitution. Once in this environment, these victims are bound by the rules of their pimps and owners - they are modern day slaves.
What do we do about it?
Using our social network we run innovative events and campaigns with a primary focus on raising awareness about this global problem. Fundraisers, parties, concerts, video and film campaigns, school and university presentations, and media stunts are just a few examples of activities that are led by our expanding network.
Whats different about PROJECT FUTURES?
The backbone of PROJECT FUTURES is a powerful network of socially engaged individuals who share a desire to make sex trafficking an idea of the past. We attract to our cause a voluntary network of young professionals who have the foresight and desire to leverage their normal social calendar, working life and activities in order to raise awareness for this cause and have fun while doing it. We aim to bridge the gap between the idea of charity as an outdated activity run by retired people with time on their hands, to an active, fun and collaborative part of everyday social interaction. We encourage our team to think outside the box and challenge the status quo on how charity events are run today.
The story of PROJECT FUTURES
In 2011 PROJECT FUTURES officially partnered with the Somaly Mam Foundation in building a new volunteer activist program. PROJECT FUTURES global brings together a network of passionate volunteers, activists and young professionals through the partnership and best-practice models of SMFs Young Professionals with the Australian-led PROJECT FUTURES.
PROJECT FUTURES global
In 2011, PROJECT FUTURES officially partnered with the Somaly Mam Foundation as their global volunteer activist program. The PROJECT FUTURES global program was created by bringing together the Australia born PF model of volunteer engagement and SMF's Young Professional Network, united under one banner. This program is a platform for students, activists and young professionals to raise awareness in their communities about the global issue of human trafficking.
What is the difference between PROJECT FUTURES (Australia) and PROJECT FUTURES global?
The concept of PROJECT FUTURES was born in Australia and is a separate not-for-profit organisation registered and internationally trademarked in Australia. It was inspired by the story of Somaly Mam, but raises awareness and funds for both the Somaly Mam Foundation as well as local Australian anti-trafficking projects. PROJECT FUTURES global is a program of the US-based Somaly Mam Foundation a non-profit 501(c)(3) organisation dedicated to the eradication of slavery and the empowerment of survivors. All proceeds raised through this program are directed to the Somaly Mam Foundation.
